Saulsbrook Farm: Suffolk Sheep
Saulsbrook Farm is a purebred Suffolk sheep operation. Our ewe flock is all in the AARRRR category and we have used rams for the last 15 years with the highest resistance to scrapie DNA. Our flock was originally made up of live animal imports from the United Kingdom in the 1970's and 1980's. Then we imported UK Suffolk semen in 1997 and 2004 to further improve our flock to a meatier, less leggy variety. In 2010. we plan to continue this trend of improving the flock by once again importing semen from selected high testing sires in the UK.
We have sold many rams and ewes in recent years across the Canadian Maritime provinces as well as to farms in Quebec, Ontario and in 2012 we had our first buyer all the way from Manitoba. Our future goal is to continue to expand our sales across Canada and eventually into the South American market.
